Description of Anti-oxidizing: oxidation is a natural process that can pose a serious threat to living beings. It’s a chemical reaction that can produce free radicals and chain reactions that may damage the cells of organisms. Oxidation will lead to a lower quality in foods and Personal Care products and can even become a health risk. One way to prevent oxidation is limiting contact of the formulation or substance with both oxygen and sunlight. Since this is not always possible, anti-oxidizing agents may be required to further preserve foods and cosmetics. A well known antioxidant in food is ascorbic acid and an example of a personal care anti-oxidizing ingredient is Benzophenone 4. Anti-oxidizing agents are also commonly used to inhibit degradation and to stabilize polymers, plastics, rubbers, lubricants and fuels.
