Skin Toners
Description and products: Skin Toners are used to clean the skin and to reduce the size of pores, mainly on the face. These products have the ability to contract tissues and therefore constrict pores. They also contain antioxidants and antimicrobials in order to fight bacteria and help the skin look clean. Skin toners can be lotions or washes, that also have moisturizing, protecting and refreshing properties. Skin toners often consist of water, a humectant and alcohol. The quantity of alcohol depends on the type of skin toner. Astringents and acid toners contain more alcohol, and are thus less mild, than skin tonics and fresheners. Although stronger skin toners (i.e., containing more alcohol) have stronger cleansing properties, they can be harmful to the skin. If applied excessively, they can dry out the skin. IngreCore offers different ingredients for Skin Toners, such as Betaine CP38, Betaine CP30 (Cocamidopropyl Betaines) and Diazolidinyl Urea.

Even though skin toners have been around for quite some time, they are still an important step in the daily skin care routines and an important step for the facial skin. Ingrephen PCG35 is a broad spectrum preservative system that is active against bacteria, yeasts and molds. Very soluble in alcohol, glycerin and glycols, Ingrephen PCG35 is soluble in water up to 1.5% (less soluble in oils). Ingrephen PCG35 is a liquid system effective in wide pH ranges from 3 to 9, and has no impact on the odor or color of the end formulation. It is a gentle and effective alternative to traditional preservatives. Based on phenoxyethanol, and enhanced by caprylyl glycol, Ingrephen PCG 35 is a liquid blend providing both emollient and preserving boosting effects for personal care applications.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine 35 is an amphoteric surfactant that is compatible with all other types of surfactants. In combination with other surfactants, it will reduce the irritating effects of the other surfactants while at the same time producing a very pleasant, stable and rich foam. It can also be added to thicken a formulation. Cocamidopropyl Betaine 35 is very widely usable in skin care, hair care and body care products. It can even be used in baby products, and products like deodorants, after shaves, as well as a wide variety of (laundry) detergents.
