Viscosity & Rheology Modifying Ingredients or Chemicals 

Description of Viscosity & Rheology Modifying: viscosity and rheology are complex technical concepts and do have some overlap but there are significant differences. Rheology is the broad study of the flow of matter, both solid and liquid, we use the term Rheology Modifying to talk about ingredients that alter the flow of a formulation. A rheology modifier will structure the formulation while at the same time making it flow and pour easier. Strength, rigidity and thickness are relevant properties for rheology modifying. Viscosity modifying is more one-dimensional and aims at changing the thickness or syrupiness of fluids. Viscosity is a property of liquids. A specific type of viscosity modifier is a thickening agent. A thickening agent increases the viscosity of a liquid, without changing the other characteristics of the formulation.
